General Home Inspection

A general home inspection is the primary service I provide.  It is by definition and standard a visual inspection of the home and its components.  Everything I can see from the tip of the roof to the basement.  Visual components include the electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling systems.  Also included are accessible attic and crawl spaces, not to mention all available rooms and garage.  I also go beyond the standards in many ways.  Read my buyers page to get a better explanation of what I do and why a buyer should use me.

The general inspection comes in a few different forms.  Most inspections are for a buyer of a house, but an inspection can also be had by a seller.  Doing so allows a seller to better forecast problems that may crop up when selling a home, and it also limits their liability by allowing them to properly fill out the required sellers disclosures statement.  Despite popular belief ignorance is not bliss when filling out an inaccurate disclosure information.  Ask any lawyer.

Inspections can also be had by anyone owning a home.  These are commonly referred to as a maintenence inspections. This information allows a home owner to prioritize their efforts to maintain ahome, and avoid problems with sudden, unforseen and expensive system failures.  I have a friend (a home inspector no less) whose furnace died Christmas Eve.  Needless to say he paid a lot more money to have a new furnace installed on christmas then to have had a new one installed prior.

Addressing safety concerns before they can effect the health and well being of occupants is also a big plus to any current home owner.  Issues like Co poisioning and Mold hazards are often dealt with.
